The main activity of the Give a Toy project is to provide Christmas presents for children from children's homes, but also for adults with disabilities who live in specialized institutions. The project is run by TANGO managers who are themselves wheelchair-bound and have been running their original project since 1997. Due to the pandemic, the organization has lost 80% of its sponsors and currently lacks funding to run the project itself. Their help is directed to children and adults who are physically, mentally and socially disadvantaged. The aim is to show people how great a gift the art of giving is and how important it is to give and be given a chance.
As part of the fundraiser, RESPECT increased the amount collected from our employees by 100%, bringing the final amount to CZK 65,000. Half of the funds were donated to the organization for its operations and the other half was used to purchase gifts for the children. In total, we granted 18 wishes to children between the ages of 5 and 17. The gifts included a garden house, a children's bicycle, a tablet and soccer boots. The children were very happy to receive gifts from Santa Claus and we are pleased that we were able to help where it is really needed.
Social responsibility is an integral part of our corporate culture. We have been awarded the Certificate of Partnership, which is a valuable reminder of the importance of helping, especially in these difficult times. We have been supporting dozens of projects for a long time, and every year volunteers from among our employees personally go to help children at the children's hospital in Janské Lázně. Our support also goes to homes for the elderly, mothers in shelters and last year we supported several hospitals on the front line in the fight against covid-19.
We are glad to have been able to provide help to children in orphanages during this difficult time, because helping, not only in times of pandemic, brings a deeper meaning to our daily work.
